Setting up an Email Client: Outlook

Open Outlook. At this point, Outlook will either open to the summary screen, or it will open a setup wizard to help you setup your email account.

If you do not see the wizard:

  1. At the top of the page click on the 'Tools' menu and then select 'Accounts...'. Click on the 'Mail' tab at the top. Click 'Add' and then 'Mail'.
  2. This is where you can choose what name will be displayed in the FROM area when you send an email. A good idea is to use your real name or business name (if this is a shared mailbox).eg. John Smith or John's Business Click 'Next'.
  3. This is where you type in your email address. eg. username@yourdomain.com Click 'Next'.
  4. E-mail Server Names Make sure you have 'POP3' selected for the incoming mail server type. 'Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP , or HTTP) server': clay.nswebhost.com 'Outgoing mail (SMTP ) server': clay.nswebhost.com Click 'Next'.
  5. Internet Mail Logon 'Account Name': your-email@your-domain.com 'Password': Your password as specified in your welcome email or as set by you through the Client Control Panel Click 'Next'.
  6. Congratulations Click 'Finish'.
  7. If you are not there already, please go to the 'Tools' menu, click 'Accounts...' and click on the 'Mail' tab at the top. You should see your new account listed here. Select it and click 'Properties'. This will open a new window.
  8. Click the 'Servers' tab at the top. Under 'Outgoing Mail Server' at the bottom of the page, select the check box next to 'My outgoing server requires authentication.' Click on the 'Settings...' button to the right. Make sure the dot is in the first option, 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server' and click the 'OK' button.
  9. Click the 'OK' button and then the 'Close' button. You should now be able to send and receive email.
